A Sea of Dead Trees is a one man band from Glasgow, specialising in Doomy Shoegaze which is way more massive than it has any right to be. Founded in late 2017 by Robert Heath, A Sea of Dead Trees released its first album 'For I have brought the Sun to the Earth and turned all to ash in my wake' on Bandcamp on the 16th of April 2018 to positive reactions, even being called an 'absolute masterpiece' by Post Rock Community (www.facebook.com/The.PostRock.Community).

The new A Sea of Dead album 'Athenia' is dedicated to Robert's grandfather, a survivor of the Athenia, the first British passenger liner to be sunk in World War II. Drawing influence from Dan Barrett's 'Giles Corey', Godspeed You! Black Emperor and the minimalist works of Philip Glass, the songs on 'Athenia' are made from layer after layer of atmospheric guitar (acoustic and electric), swelling to massive crescendos, driven by huge sampled drums.

'Heath does a fantastic job of setting a mood with these songs, especially considering the subject matter at hand. The grand vision needed by one person to create all this on their own needs to be dialled in for a solid execution, and that’s exactly what this album is about'
