In a sea of dead trees,
It unendingly seeks what is left of me,
To claim the last breath,
From my failing lungs.

All in its path is reduced to ashes,
Leaving only wrought phantoms,
That used to stand proud and tall.

Their twisted corpses surround me,
Bleached limbs outstretched,
Begging for salvation that would never come.

I catch sight of it,
Rising from the black lake.
Its form, a wretched reflection of man.
It wears my face.
Our eyes meet.
Its stare is fire.

Numbness washes over me,
Like a sheet being pulled over my body.
It has finally found me.
There is no fear now,
I can run no longer.
I am here.

As he draws closer,
I can see nothing but the burning in his eyes.
My breathing slows almost to a stop.
Breath escapes me like smoke.
He lays a cold porcelain hand on my shoulder,
Leans in and softly whispers to me.
I know now what I must do.

We walk together into the still water,
Feeling begins to drain from my limbs.
As my head goes under,
Everything that I was washes out to black.
I can still see his eyes in the void.

In a sea of dead trees,
I unendingly seek what is left of me,

For I have brought the Sun to the Earth,
And turned all to ash in my wake.

Aquilus took a decade off and came back like he never left! Bellum I is yet another piece of beautiful melodic black metal mixed with classical and folk that makes you wanna dance naked in a forest somewhere. The natural sounding production increases the atmosphere heavily. Griseus is a monumental black metal album for me but Bellum I isn't far behind. Can't wait for II! Ryan
